What Gotratix (A-18) is

Gotratix is the skeletal-muscle entry in the Cytomax range: the oral peptide bioregulators that Vladimir Khavinson's St Petersburg group extracts from animal organs rather than builds in a synthesiser. It carries the internal designation A-18, and it is sold as a small capsule taken in short courses.

It matters to you, before any benefit talk, that Gotratix is a crude tissue extract and not a single defined molecule. It is a low-molecular-weight peptide fraction (broadly under 10 kDa) isolated from calf muscle, so no two batches are guaranteed identical and no lab can hand you a clean structure to check.

That is the opposite of a compound like Epitalon, which is one known four-amino-acid sequence. With Gotratix you are buying a mixture, and the marketing rests almost entirely on where that mixture came from rather than on what it has been shown to do.

Gotratix is an extract, not a synthetic peptide

The Cytomax capsules are extracted preparations: crude peptide fractions pulled from young-animal tissue, in Gotratix's case muscle. Whether a product is an extract or a synthesised sequence decides how much of the range's evidence it can honestly claim.

Because it is a mixture rather than a defined molecule, you cannot verify a Gotratix capsule the way you can verify a synthetic peptide by mass. When a vendor lends it the wider bioregulator research story, they are lending a mixture the reputation of studies mostly run on other, better-characterised preparations.

Oral capsule, not an injectable or an anabolic

Gotratix is oral only. It is not an injectable short-peptide, and it is not an anabolic agent in any hormonal sense. It will not act like testosterone, a SARM, or a growth-hormone secretagogue, whatever the surrounding sales copy implies about muscle.

For an oral peptide preparation the first honest question is how much survives digestion intact, and for Gotratix that has never been answered in a published study. You are swallowing a protein fraction and trusting that enough reaches a working muscle to matter.

02 / Mechanism

How Gotratix is proposed to work

The proposed mechanism is not specific to Gotratix. It is the general bioregulator hypothesis, applied to muscle by analogy, and no step of it has been demonstrated with this capsule.

The gene-regulation hypothesis behind muscle peptide bioregulators

The idea is that short regulatory peptides enter the cell, bind specific sequences in the DNA double-helix at the major groove, and shift which genes are read, behaving a little like transcription factors.1 In this framing an extract from muscle is said to carry peptides that preferentially regulate muscle-cell gene activity.

Real laboratory work sits behind the class mechanism. Khavinson's group has reported that these peptides act at very low concentrations and can normalise gene and cytokine expression,2 and in cell culture short peptides such as AEDG and KED reduced the senescence marker p21 by 15% and beta-galactosidase activity by 1.51 to 2.4 times.3

Why none of that mechanism work used Gotratix

Check what those studies actually dosed. The DNA-binding work used the synthetic tetrapeptide Epitalon, not a muscle extract. The senescence result was in cultured neuronal and stem cells, not muscle fibres. None of it was Gotratix.

The tissue-tropism story is elegant: a muscle extract that tunes muscle genes. What is missing is any published experiment showing that Gotratix, the actual capsule, does this in muscle. The mechanism is borrowed from other peptides in other tissues and stretched to cover a product it was never tested on.

So when a page tells you Gotratix works by regulating muscle-cell activity, it is describing a hypothesis for the class, dressed as a finding for the product. The capsule has never been the thing in the flask.

03 / The evidence

What the Gotratix evidence actually shows

The biomedical literature indexes no studies of Gotratix by name. We grade what follows as entirely borrowed: class-level work on other peptides, set out so you can see what is being lent and from whom.

Cell and in-vitro studies on the class, not on A-18

Gotratix in cells

None. There is no published cell-culture study of Gotratix itself. The in-vitro data that gets cited around it belongs to other peptides in the family, run on other cell types.

Class mechanism, 2025

Short peptides including AEDG and KED reduced the cell-cycle marker p21 by 15% and beta-galactosidase activity by 1.51 to 2.4 times in cultured cells.3 Real, quantified, and about senescence in neuronal and stem cells, not muscle performance and not Gotratix.

Short peptides can nudge gene expression in a dish, and that much is established. Nothing in it shows that a muscle extract in a capsule does anything to your muscle.

Animal research on the bioregulator class, not on Gotratix

Gotratix in animals

None specific to it. The experimental case for the bioregulator class comes from Khavinson's own review, which summarises the peptides' ability to increase life span and inhibit carcinogenesis in laboratory animals.4 That is a longevity and tumour story, not a muscle-strength or fatigue story.

So even the animal work most favourable to the range does not measure the thing Gotratix is sold for. Nobody has published an animal experiment showing this muscle extract raises muscular capacity or delays fatigue.

Human studies on Gotratix (read the small print)

There is no randomised or peer-reviewed human trial of Gotratix. The single supporting document is a manufacturer report: not peer-reviewed, not randomised, and not indexed in PubMed.

The manufacturer report

Gotratix's only human "evidence" is an in-house study from the producer. A report generated and published by the seller, with no blinding, no control described, and no independent replication, sits near the bottom of any evidence hierarchy.

The omission that tells you most

Khavinson's own clinical-studies review of the peptide bioregulators names Timalin, Thymogen, Vilon, Epithalamin, Prostatilen, Cortexin and Retinalamin.5 Gotratix is not among them. When the originating group's clinical summary leaves your product off the list, that silence is itself a finding.

The nearest borrowed analog

A separate paper assessed small peptides (cytogens) as geroprotectors in workers exposed to occupational hazards, using a work-ability index.6 It is the closest thing to a "work capacity" signal in the literature, and it is about other peptides, not Gotratix.

What remains unproven

No controlled human trial has tested whether Gotratix increases muscular capacity, raises strength or reduces fatigue, in anyone, at any dose, over any course length.

The evidence that exists belongs to the class, was mostly generated by the originating group, and does not measure muscle performance. Gotratix has, in effect, borrowed a reputation it has not earned in a single published trial of its own.

Gotratix benefits: the claims, and what the evidence supports

No strength test, no power measurement, no work-capacity trial: the Gotratix literature contains none of them. The claims below sit on that absence, and even the mildest borrows its footing from other peptides.

Increased muscular capacity

Least supported, and it is the headline claim. No study of Gotratix demonstrates a rise in strength, power or work capacity. This is an assertion carried by marketing, not by data.

Reduced muscular fatigue

Unproven for the product. The one adjacent signal is a work-ability study of other small peptides,6 which cannot stand in for a muscle extract nobody has tested for fatigue.

General geroprotection

A class-level hypothesis, not a Gotratix result. The animal lifespan work4 applies to the range, was not run on this capsule, and says nothing about muscle.

The boldest claim, more muscle, has the least evidence, and even the mildest one rests on studies of different peptides. We would not spend money on this expecting a training effect.

No trial has ever set a dose for Gotratix, so the numbers below are vendor convention and Cytomax habit. They tell you what is printed on the box, not what you should be swallowing.

The dosage and cycle length vendors suggest

Vendors commonly suggest 1 to 2 capsules once or twice daily for 10 to 30 days, repeated once or twice a year. Those numbers come from the wider Cytomax range's habits, not from a study that measured what dose does what in a muscle.

Why the oral route is the weak point

Gotratix is a protein fraction taken by mouth, so it faces stomach acid and digestive enzymes before it can act anywhere. How much peptide survives to reach muscle tissue intact is unestablished, and no published pharmacokinetic work answers it.

If a protocol matters to you, understand that you are following a convention twice removed from evidence: a dosing habit for the range, applied to a product with no trial, delivered by a route whose absorption nobody has demonstrated.

Gotratix safety and side effects

The Cytomax range is generally described as well tolerated, with no serious adverse events reported. That description belongs to the range. Gotratix has never been separated out of it and looked at on its own.

Why "no side effects reported" is close to meaningless for Gotratix

There has been no safety trial of Gotratix. "No side effects reported" for a product that has barely been studied for benefit, let alone harm, mostly tells you that nobody looked. Nobody has even established what is in a Gotratix capsule, so there is no defined thing to have a reaction to.

The real risk: an unverifiable calf-muscle extract

What is likeliest to hurt you here is manufacturing, not pharmacology. Gotratix is an extract of calf muscle, so provenance and processing quality matter, and you have no way to confirm either from a capsule. An unverified extract can carry whatever the source tissue and manufacturing let through.

Because it is a crude mixture rather than a defined molecule, you also cannot check identity or purity by mass the way you could with a synthetic peptide. What is in the capsule is taken on trust.

Who should avoid Gotratix, and who to ask first

Avoid it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, since it is untested there; if you are expecting a genuine anabolic or performance effect, since none is demonstrated; or if you are unwilling to take an unstudied animal extract on faith.

The only human document behind this capsule was written by the company selling it. That is a thin footing for putting anything into your body, and a good reason to ask a doctor who knows your history first.

Where to buy Gotratix safely in the UK

Gotratix sells on the Khavinson reputation, which is exactly what makes it easy to counterfeit or pad. Because it is an extract, you cannot verify it the way you can a single-sequence peptide, so your checks have to shift from the molecule to the maker.

What you can and cannot verify on a capsule

You cannot confirm a Gotratix capsule by HPLC and mass against a known sequence, because there is no single sequence to match. Insist instead on a named manufacturer, batch documentation, and any third-party testing on offer. A price far below the market is a question about who made it.

Listings that trade on the Khavinson name

Watch how a listing argues. If it leans on the bioregulator range's research, remember that Khavinson's clinical review does not list Gotratix,5 so the studies being invoked were mostly run on other preparations.

Buying it is your call. We would call it what it is: an oral muscle extract with a strong pedigree and a near-empty evidence file of its own.

Gotratix vs Epitalon and the rest of the range

Gotratix sits alongside the other Cytomax capsules and, one shelf over, the injectable short-peptides. Against a compound like Epitalon it has far less to show: Epitalon at least has cell-culture and human melatonin data, while Gotratix has a manufacturer report and a borrowed class mechanism.

Frequently asked questions about Gotratix

Is Gotratix clinically proven to increase muscular capacity?

No. Vendor pages call it "clinically proven to efficiently increase capacities of muscular system", but there is no randomised or peer-reviewed trial behind that line. The only supporting document is a non-randomised, non-peer-reviewed manufacturer report, which is not what "clinically proven" means to a careful reader.

What is Gotratix made from?
